John Nayler explains his passion for Marketing

Mon 2:00pm 27 Nov 2017
Podcast Audio

Turning the tables on John Nayler in this episode is Dave Meikle. Dave puts John in the hot seat and asks him about his passion for marketing and information technology. John talks about his background and the reasons for re-invigorating his business, eCentral. After success in the early years of the Internet industry, John then took time out to live the laptop lifestyle on a catamaran sailing the Great Barrier Reef and around the Whitsunday Islands. While living a paradilic life, surrounded by the whiteness of  Whitehaven Beach sand and the colours of the tropical fish starting to fade????? With even bigger (lifestyle) goals there is a new found drive behind the new success and the motivation for adapting the business to the #socialrevolution.

Reputation is king in 2017 and if you are not working on your reputation, you are not going to be as successful as you could be. John has a range of secret methodologies and software systems that drive credibility and growing reputation. With these in place, business walks in the door.

Transcript:
Hi everyone its Dave Mikkel here on the  eCentral business show.  I'm flipping the tables today because I'm actually interviewing. My guest is  John Nayler himself from eCentral.  John tell us what is it that you'd like to talk about today?

Well I think probably about passion. You know so far what people have seen on the eCentral business show, and that is a release of passion when talking about "what they do".  However it's normally by the person sitting here in the chair.  I love getting that out of my guests, so let's talk about that in terms of my situation.  You know that there is passion around where I've come from and .??????

What I love to do is definitely help businesses grow. That's based around my history in computing for 28 years. I was a graduate of an IT degree, came up through the UNIX operating system era and then arrived I fell in love at first sight I mean who didn't if not you do now I'm sure and on the base that you know I started developing websites right from the outset but that was from a programmers point of view and that was always a point of difference Pro a programmer at attaching attacking the websites and doing those sorts of things there's always going to be trying to reveal systems and doing things for people where a lot of internet in the early days was very much graphical flash remember flash oh my god so people said look at this beautiful website and I said but it doesn't do much you know whereas with programming you are able to interact with people and bring things to life so yeah and it's that passion that's that's still there today as terms of the things I do for people and you know jet stream is a great example our our CRM products designed in-house - and now upgraded to be socially aware and do some amazing things around fast blogging cetera so that's what a passion is what I would like to do you started with websites yeah and then what happened well I took time out I took time out I mean there was a period of my life where you know I got to a point of success and got to you know the bank I was looking pretty good I thought well I'm gonna take a few years old so I went sailing in the whitsundays they were all amazed well it was you know that dwell it was you know and that was you know attaining the dream I'm probably a bit too early actually and I've now got bigger dreams that will go to a spot if it's certainly sailing around the whitsundays lots of friends coming out with you still doing your work having one of being the original laptop lifestyle guys you know Telstra next G came along you know fast internet through the airwaves so on the base that I even that me you know was a face for them I enjoy the time that being you know Telstra's face of the next year internet so and that was great but then obviously sort of thought well it's time to get back to town um I've had my fun and actually this powdery white sand and whitehaven beaches isn't quite as wide anymore yeah yeah ok so you get back now in that coming adventures and you've started or reinvigorated Eastern we moved it yeah we booted so tell us what's hot now in in the world of essential yeah okay well there's a couple of things are really great really love the question this is it's as though I wrote them I guess they know the the the thing is is that east central what we found is and as a reap restarted rebooted II Central and you've come back after a few years and you have a sort of thing at home a bit tentative but once I've lifted the bonnet you know the distributor's replaced by electronic ignition you know and maybe there's a battery now it's battery driven not an actual engine at all but fundamentally it's still a car yeah so and fundamentally digital marketing as an evolution of where websites fit it into someone's strategy around doing more business online we've now got the website still the core of my opinion but we've got the social revolution and we need to play to that you know as Gary Vee said a couple of weeks ago so I saw he said you know this is the remote control for our life and he waved his telephone and that's absolutely true tell us anyone that you know that doesn't have their phone close at hand 24/7 that's right so that's the thing that's hot we're doing some great things around that so jet stream as a as a product is you know there's a socially aware CRM it's got chat it's got social feed it's got some other functionality around there for people to fast blog as it's something that should be put in their hands uses the fast block if they desire to and so that's really great digital marketing given to twenty years I've had in the industry I've seen a lot of things tried a lot of things we've it now adapting those same mobilities around the social revolution and you know it kicking goals and I can show that yeah yeah so what's something that's really exciting at the moment that you're actually doing with businesses around town because I know I know that there's a few businesses you're doing some pretty amazing digital marketing for yeah is there anything you want to talked about I think that the biggest thing is that you know whether you're Google talking about how we rank people these days or how we want to you know our search engine to work whether you're looking at you know what how businesses a position on Facebook or LinkedIn or all those sorts of mediums it's all very much a social revolution and a social medium so but key around that is reputation and that is really what I'm passionate about on the moment and so fundamentally we work with companies and one of the best things we can do for companies to help them around their reputation so we've been engaged by a rental car coming that reputation is bad we got above bad and that's an achievement but we've also worked with great products and great clients where we've actually now cemented that position where the reputation across Google Maps or some other social medium is now four point nine thousand four point zero starts it ourselves five stars all the way through and all the base is that when people are looking you up because they you know they look up echo media reviews or exact reviews or why haven't expressed a conquer termites from the gray pine they look after your abuse and so we do some really targeted some slightly cheeky and slightly clever things to actually work on people's reputation and make sure that the way they're regarded across the internet isn't in first rate yeah and you're getting some really great results as well aren't you oh yeah yeah lutely you know when you end it and it's it fills my heart with joy yeah yeah and you'd be here with clients um say the other day I saw a message pass through from a full on behalf of one of my clients to you know as an inquiry anther that's pretty cool because that deal alone has pretty much paid for the service we provided so they're getting that ROI and it's caught a 50% 50% ROI in one deal that you know we were able to create the position on Google and we had the thing with their reputation so that that inquiry came through and paper Harbor there and work over the past six yeah that's cool that's pretty amazing yeah yeah so for those guys that are out there that are watching this how can someone contact you and have that you actually do some digital marketing for them oh okay well that's really straightforward you look at the central long Google you look up John Nayler on Google you can also come through to my LinkedIn very active in that space at the moment as we connect with businesses across the world and also just lift the phone and call me on over four oh seven fifteen thirteen eleven mmm-hmm well thank you so much John for joining me on my show today you've been listening to Dave Michael from echo media and John Nayler from east central John it's been very enlightening and I'm sure that the the guys out there are going to get a lot of value out of spending time with you in the future as well so thanks for coming on the show yeah thank you very much I should be thanking me at this parent module hey whatever you like thank you Dave thank you very much
