Tue 4:00pm 05 Dec 2017

In the final episode of this video series with life coach Adrian Cahill we address the money question.

How much should life coaching cost?

Adrian talks transparently about the important question.

Video transcript: how much should I pay for life coaching is what we're talking about today on the E Central Business show I'm John nail and joined by Adrienne Cahill Adrienne thank you very much for this extended conversation about life coaching has been really informative thank you for the privilege of sharing here John okay wonderful now is that big question and I want to get straight into it because recently it was an event and I've been where they were a few colleagues and friends and I watched a process around life coach wealth coach happen where at the end of it you had a range of people run to the back of the room to sign on at $3,000 and I heard that that's just the start of it it can get a whole lot dearer it seems the life coaching Wolf's coaching whatever coaching is often associated with emptying your bank account into the pocket of someone else is that - coaching is about Adrienne I know the seminars you're talking about I've been at plenty of them myself and no I don't think that's what life coaching is about I think that is people actually buying into a dream no yes yes buying into a dream walking out a ton of money for that dream hmm and then perhaps the people running the showed silently crossing their fingers mmm or ethically they're being coached hoping that the person gets the result but ultimately the majority of those people I feel they will spend pocket loads of cash on a dream and as you know the numbers of those that achieve the dreams would be terribly low you know a bit low yeah that's a percentage thing and then there's iconic people within the industry you know the Anthony Robbins that sort of thing where people go and have their break right through event now I've got a friend recently did that and I can see the transformation and for me as a guy did stuff around that years ago around emotional intelligence and goal-setting and stuff like that he was just so elated and I could see that he got it together for money from that and I was like and he was oh wow there's this new thing you know go well welcome to the party to the party you know because yeah there's quite a few people know that but you see the people get caught up around a particular iconic person or something like that but life coaching I think has it a bit more subtlety than that yeah yes yes you know $30,000 for a dream hmm now if the person creates the dream for you hmm there's probably thirty thousand dollars well spent yeah sure your average life coaching it'll depend e the lower end could be below a hundred and fifty US dollars an hour on my cycle psychology rates and some in the first years maybe even 50 $60 an hour I charge 50 bucks an hour when I started no more experienced and over two hundred three four hundred there's an alleyway you talking about yeah to try to answer the question is how much secure so how much is a cozy it could be a three four hundred dollars an hour but that really depends on the match mm-hmm the match is it a tight fit is the result going to be there and hmm the actual cost isn't such an important question and it's not because you got to detach yourself from money mm-hmm what is money hmm it's a tool mean something right can money keep you warm yeah well some people bet that's just wished up but doesn't really exist X so people have this really really strong attachment to what is the cost per the more important question and investors will know this back to front it's it's the ROI what's the return on coaching how much should I invest in it so that I get the return of what hmm so if you want to make your your business go from a hundred thousand dollars a year to a million dollars a year you might want to spend ten twenty thirty thousand dollars maybe thirty forty thousand dollars well you see every day quite easily see a return on investment there so if you're gonna go 10x on your business go from one hundred million then you should be quite happy to spend quite a large portion of that in fact yes but obviously it's got to be money well spent but you're right your average person isn't going to be going the your average person doesn't want to take their business from a hundred thousand to to a million your average person is in a job a Jo B and your average person may want to go from a Jo B into starting their own company hmm yeah but the company might be self-employed with maybe no staff or a couple okay so what does it take to make that shift and I can guarantee you is thirty thousand dollar course but it could be a good answer another good answer is working with someone like myself mm-hmm yep or if you were actually to be a business coach John if you were to be a business coach and I wanted to have a really fun lifestyle that you have an interview really cool people it would be a really good business coach for me and I would happily pay you oh it will depend on my goal to say I want to make a million dollar business yeah I would very happily pay you 10,000 20,000 30,000 dollars a year yeah well that's that's kind of you to offer that provoke asar in the digital marketing and that sort of thing we'd build your brain so thank you very much for prompting the question and yeah always happy to have those sorts of conversations but but the value that you would create for me when you're network with your experience for me to call you up every week and talk to you about how did you do it John helped me do it John mmm John I want to have fun I have a studio I want to do this to it can you help me hmm the shift that would create in my life hmm would totally change direction if I went from having a job to living your lifestyle hmm that's a huge change is that change worth $30,000 well I swear hell yeah people make some people make $50,000 a year $50,000 years it can be an average figure right multiply that by ten years half a million dollars now a half a million dollars in the next ten years or for a lot of people and they'll be making you know one hundred two hundred thousand right hmm so in a job earning this kind of money day after day week after week year after year in the direction that doesn't make you happy hmm yeah versus spending a little bit of money and having a happy life in there the decision is incredibly easy it's not a matter of how much does it cost it's a matter of what do you want to get hmm and it's giving five or ten percent or something of your celery or five to ten percent of your yearly income worth having the dream and you're the like you want mm-hmm oh yeah you only got one life no he was a very large Delta in that isn't this oh here ten years at a job versus ten years in entrepreneurial success it's still a bit of risk involved but there are people like oh I got my money you know money is more important than my life little things about the whole sort of decision around jobs if we can talk dress for a minute as you can always go back to the job okay can always get back goes to a a job maybe not the same job but if you head of the job that much you don't want to go back to that job do you yeah it's like a big big opportunity to change your life yeah you know what maybe it's a bit scary yeah so I'll use money as an excuse yeah sure so I won't change my life I need the safety I need a security and I need an excuse yeah there are doors like gobblers here ok ok I get it right so anyway look I think we're pretty amply so there's the question around how much does life coach cost it obviously the sorts of things you're doing an hourly rate or weekly or monthly rate those are things are all based around also the obligation is to opt out yeah opting out is easy also money-back guarantees should be the standard should be the norm ok yeah if anyone even for my bag it's like okay no dramedy fun yeah it's much more important to have satisfied customers than to have complaints yeah sure I know that about the reputation management view stuff that we do in digital marketing for people yeah powerful stuff if I may if you ever wanna cuz you're a chick two things I think is a LinkedIn yeah because that they should have a profile highlighting that they've been a professional coach for some time they should have testimonials yes of course people may get confused if accreditations and stuff but they should be in the LinkedIn er I'd mm-hmm and when you talk to them there should be out offer you a money-back guarantee and they should be able to tell you who they're being coached by every coach needs a coach ok good it's a good question it's a trick question you you ask them that and if their face is like don't harm no okay good advice all right fantastic all right add you and in terms of funding you head oh they did that I really is he just Google Adrienne Cahill really 0 or LinkedIn okay probably find me on YouTube tedx and that kind of stuff you if I think they already have their talk they're watching this obvious now okay fabulous Adrienne thank you very much for coming in today and obviously those conversations people have with you come with a certain amount of obligation free very confidential completely confidential yeah let's have killed someone yeah okay let's hope they have an agent and you're jumping free really easy complimentary complete share session okay fantastic all right thank you very much for your time today in the central business show
