Google My Business scams on the rise

In recent days one of our clients has had what appears to be a scam attempted by way of their "Google My Business" listing.

A minor weakness of Google My Business and Google Map listings is that anyone can "suggest an edit" to a listing.

In this case the caller made a change to open hours before or after the call. The offer on the call was to fix it, no doubt for a fee.

The pity is that there is 1/2 a chance that Google Maps will accept the "suggested edit" change without review, which is the greater nuisance as we then have to change it back.

So beware:
- Details of your Google My Business / Maps listings changing on their own
- Notifications that your listings have changed
- Calls from anyone saying they are from Google My Business (While possible, it's highly unlikely)
